Community is defined as "A group of people living at the same place or having a particular characteristic in common".
It starts from people meeting each other, and in order to create a large community, its necessary to share common believes and values.
But before a community can really happen, there are some barriers that must be overcome:

Place
In spite of a World always connected by the Internet, there still a great physical barrier and other issues that prevent more people to gather on, such as negative approaches, economical and technical conditions.

Language
The idiom also plays a great barrier, people may have the same hobbies and interests but cant communicate.

Information
People may be near by, but they dont know much about each other. They may share similar interests and hobbies, but for communication or privacy reasons those informations are shared.

Different environments
People may have the same cultural background, and no physical barriers between them, but their environment may differ. Lets say for example a college student and a teacher who may share the same hobbies or sports but had no chance to meet.
